Kösem Sultan

An unorthodox name from our past history. A female leader who, unlike male-dominated leaders, ruled half a century.

He is the only Ottoman sultan in Ottoman history to take his two sons to the throne and then see the reign of his grandson. In addition, he is the only valide sultan killed in Ottoman history. It is recognized that it became a symbol of female domination in the Ottoman harem and reached the peak of the period that began with Haseki Hürrem Sultan and was called the reign of women in popular culture and historical literature. In 1623, Kösem Sultan tried to rule the state as regent of the Sultanate in a way that had never happened before in the Ottoman state tradition, and he was largely successful. He has managed to become one of the biggest names that comes to mind when talking about women in the history of politics and government.

It should also be noted that when Kösem Sultan came to the palace from the land of Rum, his name was Anastasia. There is a rumor that Anastasia, who came to the Palace, took the name Kösem. He was given the name Kösem because he was a Kösem to other concubines in the palace, that is, "a person or someone who is sure, knows what to do when, guides and guides a flock."

Although his wife did not interfere much in the political affairs of Sultan Ahmed at first, it is known that Akbar and Ershed Kösem Sultan wrote the system with great courage on the night when the sultan fell ill. This is a very strategic move for the protection of the princes and the future of the state. In the following years, she performed a first as regent of the Sultanate. He seriously protected and protected the people and helped countless people. His beauty and intelligence are also coveted by his people. And already Sultan Ahmed's love for him has even been interpreted by some as magic. As we go through political authority and issues, I pull back a lot of interesting details here.

He barred many statesmen from their posts with clever moves and maintained state order. He married his daughters to respected Pashas, further consolidating political control. His son IV. When Murat (Fatih-i Baghdad ) grew up, he removed Kösem Sultan from the political arena, but upon his death at an early age, the rule of Kösem Sultan began again. But because his son Ibrahim was afraid of being killed by executioners, he was mentally unstable and threw the entire state order into the abyss. Ibrahim hasekisi Turhan Sultan is a woman whom Kösem Sultan personally raised. But Kösem Sultan unwittingly raised his worst enemy. Turhan Sultan plots with a sharp wit to eliminate Kösem Sultan. Ilaveten is the Iron Lady of the Ottoman Empire. The reason would be that he closed the reign of a whole Kösem Sultan in one night. But he will never be as legendary as Kösem Sultan. On top of all this, the Battle of Kösem and Turhan goes further. Kösem Sultan, who gave up even his own son with Turhan Sultan's mental garlands and under public pressure, killed his son by approving that he said, "I will die and I will not allow Abraham to be killed." After that, he was spoken of in many places as a son killer. Once, Kösem Sultan looked at himself in the mirror and saw the image of his youth right behind him. The first time he came to the palace, Anastasia... But he delivers a quick blow to Anastasia's head with a heavy Candelabra, which he holds in his hand, saying that his youth was screaming at him as a "son killer". Their servants who come in see the concubine lying on the floor covered in blood. When the servants asked if the concubine had attempted to kill, Kösem Sultan said, "Anastasia, lying on the floor, called me a son killer." The servants realized that Kösem Sultan was not well and looked quietly. Kösem Sultan is shocked once again when they turn the face of the concubine lying on the floor.

Because the servant lying on the floor is just one of the concubines. Although he begins to think he is crazy, he must continue to stand for the future of the state. Turhan Sultan achieved his goal and ascended his son to the throne. And that unforgettable day has come. 2 September 1651. The Sultan Ahmed Khan's beautiful Anastasia, the public and the state Kosem,  Haseki Mahpeyker Valide Sultan that should be added to Devletlü İsmetlü Haseki Mahpeyker Kösem Büyük Valide Sultan Aliyyetü'ş-Şân Hazretleri, Valide-i Muazzama, Valide- Kebire, Der-i Devlet, Naibe- i Saltanat , Valide-i Muhtereme, Valide-i  Maktule, Ulu Valide and the state Valide Sultan, Süleyman Ağa created by a team of Lala is the first step on the road back to the palace with your exceeding great and Stony as described, with blond hair was strangled. In a huge era, she was closed in that Palace that day, and never again did such a powerful female leader come to the Ottoman State. I would like to add that some people from today have different views about Kösem Sultan.

 M. Cavid Baysun asserts that Kösem Sultan, who stated that he was one of the many friends and many enemies as a result of the affairs he was involved in, engaged in the most dangerous enterprises in an effort to keep power tight and was even in a creation that could sacrifice even the closest ones for his purposes.

Ahmed Refik says that Kösem Sultan is a woman with ambitions for the Sultanate, as well as a compassionate person. Moreover, he states that he tried to take over the Sultanate during the hasekism period and made political connections to increase his influence. He also believes that during the period called the women's reign, he was the most powerful Valide Sultan in Ottoman history.

Yılmaz Öztuna takes a tougher stance for Kösem Sultan. According to the author, The Valide Sultan fell in love with politics and his only goal is to reign, give orders and rule the state.

Halil Inalcık Kösem Sultan's valide Sultans ranking outside the most critical period of the Ottoman Empire leading the "great valide" position stating that 17. it is the corner of the century.

Ilber Ortaylı Kösem Sultan has a great historical personality, as well as being extremely scheming.

Sometimes some people can go from running a state and from the arena of politics to a whole history. Valide-i Muazzama Mahpeyker Kösem Sultan is an authoritarian and a leader who has given up even his family for the sake of his state…
