EXAMINATION OF CHINA-AMERICA TRADE WAR WITH LIBERALISM
Abstract
Within the context of this article, trade policies and effects of America and China are compared and researched. This process, which began with Trump's wish to close the trade deficit, has turned into a war of trade, which has a global impact with the response of China. In this respect, the effects of Trump's protectionist policy are analysed from a liberal point of view. Trump's protectionist policy and the imposition of additional taxes on products imported from China adversely affected the bilateral relations with China. At the same time, the economic policies of the two trade giants have global implications. According to the liberalists who oppose the protectionist policy, trade should be free trade. Protectionism means the strengthening of a country's own industry through customs duties and being closed to free competition. However, according to the liberalists, protectionist politics harms individuals. The impact of these additional customs taxes is expected to be felt around the world, given China's response. In this way, while the trade wars cause tensions between the two countries, we can say that the effect can be felt all over the world. At the same time, with Trump saying that he is not afraid of trade wars and would be beneficial to his country, we may say that in the following days, higher commercial tensions may occur.
Key words: Liberalism, Trade, Protectionism, War, Individual, China, America
